Morning Prayer (based on the Canticle of Zechariah, Luke 1:68-80)

Leader: Let us pray. The response is, “Bless God, the keeper of promises.”

All: Bless God, the keeper of promises.

Leader: Bless the God of Israel, the Keeper of promises,
who dwells with us and saves us.

All: Bless God, the keeper of promises.

Leader: Through the prophets of old
you promised to save us from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us.

All: Bless God, the keeper of promises.

Leader: You show us mercy, God,
and never forget your promises
so that without fear we may worship you
and live holy and peaceful lives.

All: Bless God, the keeper of promises.

Leader: In your tender kindness
you send the daybreak
to shine in our darkness
and to guide our feet into the path of peace.

All: Bless God, the keeper of promises
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Leader: God of daybreak and morning,
we give thanks for another day of life.
Keep our eyes open so that we do not overlook you this day.
Keep our ears open to hear what you speak to us this day.
Guide us so that our actions today will build peace.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.

All: Amen.

Leader: May God protect us, and walk with us this day.

All: Amen.
